When I was in high school, I started to practice photography as a hobby. I maintained a photography blog for several years and entered my work into several competitions. As a student, I won 2nd place in my district's student art competition. My winning photograph hung in my state representative's office for a year.
In college, I became a freelance photographer to help pay my bills. I would document events for clients and take headshots and portraits for a variety of people. I also volunteered time at several organizations to photograph community work days and projects.
The compositional and artistic skills I learned as a photographer helped me immensely as I pursued graphic design. In every job I've had since high school, my talents as a photographer have immensely benefited the organizations and companies that I have worked for.
